Research shows intermittent fasting can benefit men and post-menopausal women, but if you’re a cycling woman, it could do more harm than good. Here’s why:

Kisspeptin, a peptide, signals your brain to produce the hormones that support estrogen and progesterone. But when calorie intake drops (as it can with fasting), these hormones can drop too.

Estrogen and progesterone are essential for regular periods, good sleep, balanced mood, digestion, and bone health — Plus, estrogen affects your metabolism and fat storage. So, fasting for weight management might actually backfire if your estrogen levels drop!

Bottom line: If you’re a cycling woman, intermittent fasting might be messing with your hormones more than you realize!
